New limits on gun parts and mods

This bill would change what counts as a semiautomatic firearm when enacted. Starting 120 days after enactment, it would ban importing, selling, making, transferring, receiving, or possessing devices or parts that make a semiautomatic gun fire faster or act like a machinegun. If you lawfully owned a semiautomatic firearm modified that way before enactment, you would have to register it within 120 days under section 5841 of the Internal Revenue Code (the National Firearms Act registration rules). The bill would also add those modified guns to the NFA immediately and make violating the new ban a listed federal firearms offense. Federal, state, tribal, and local government activity under official authority and pre-enactment items that are registered would be exempt.
