Designate Houthis as Terrorists

This bill would require the Secretary of State to designate Ansarallah (the Houthis) as a foreign terrorist organization. The designation would need to follow section 219(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1189(a)). Within 90 days of enactment, the President would have to impose sanctions on Ansarallah and on any foreign person who is a member, agent, affiliate of, or owned or controlled by Ansarallah. Required sanctions would include blocking property and banning transactions under Executive Order 13224 and the entry-related sanctions under Executive Order 13780 as in effect on January 19, 2021, for nationals of Yemen.
