Single Social Security contact for identity theft

If enacted, you would get a single point of contact at the Social Security Administration if your Social Security number was misused or your card was lost in transmission. Covered misuse includes using your number to fraudulently get benefits under titles II, VIII, or XVI, misuse that affects SSA records, or misuse that leads you to request a new number. The single point of contact would be a team of specially trained SSA employees who would track your case to completion and coordinate with other SSA units. The team would be allowed to change members as needed, but procedures would have to keep continuous case records and notify you when appropriate. These changes would take effect 180 days after enactment.
