Mandatory delay alerts for flyers
If enacted, covered air carriers would have to notify each passenger by email or text when a flight has a departure or taxi delay of 15 minutes or more. Notifications would be sent at least every 15 minutes until the delay ends. Each message would give the new estimated departure and arrival times (as applicable). Each message would let a passenger opt out of further notifications for that flight. The bill applies to domestic and international flights by covered air carriers and does not specify penalties or an effective date.
