Sanctions review for Hong Kong officials

If enacted, the bill would require the President to decide within 180 days whether listed Hong Kong officials meet U.S. sanctions rules. The President would send a detailed report to four congressional committees: Senate Foreign Relations; Senate Banking; House Foreign Affairs; and House Financial Services. The report would reassess four officials previously flagged in August 2020 and 45 named judges, magistrates, and prosecutors. The bill would not itself impose sanctions, but a finding could lead the executive branch to block assets or restrict U.S. dealings.
