More payments for geographically disadvantaged farmers
If enacted, the Secretary would use Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) funds to pay reimbursements to geographically disadvantaged farmers and ranchers. The bill would set required annual amounts: $10 million for FY2026; $11 million for FY2027; $12 million for FY2028; $13 million for FY2029; $14 million for FY2030; and $15 million for FY2031 and each fiscal year after. The bill would remove the phrase that made payments "subject to the availability of funds." This would make the Secretary's duty less dependent on that specific funding phrase. In any fiscal year when available funds equal or exceed total eligible application amounts, the Secretary could not impose a limit on individual payments.
