More rural emergency hospitals for Medicare
If enacted, this bill would change which hospitals Medicare treats as rural emergency hospitals. It would use January 1, 2014 as the cutoff date for rural status. It would also allow hospitals designated rural by HRSA's Office of Rural Health Policy to qualify. If passed, more rural hospitals could gain or keep rural emergency hospital status for Medicare. These changes would take effect on enactment (May 19, 2025).
