Faster deportation cases for noncitizens

This bill would require the Attorney General to start removal cases as soon as ICE files a served Notice to Appear. For people convicted of crimes that make them deportable, the timing to start a case would be measured from the conviction date. The bill would require immigration courts and the Attorney General to finish each such case within 15 days after it starts. The Attorney General could issue regulations and guidance to meet the 15‑day deadline, and the deadline would apply notwithstanding other law (including section 208(d)(5)(A)).
