Early Army purchase of 24 aircraft
This bill would let the Secretary of the Army sign contracts to buy up to 24 FLRAA aircraft. The purchases would happen before full-rate production as an accelerated low-rate effort. If enacted, this could speed delivery of capability and help keep suppliers and factory workers employed. The Secretary would be required to prioritize cost-efficiency, program continuity, and workforce retention, and to keep designs flexible for future upgrades. Not later than 180 days after enactment, the Secretary would report to the congressional defense committees on the procurement plan, supply chain readiness, and estimated long-term savings and benefits.
