New deportation for assaulting officers

If enacted, the bill would add a new deportation ground for noncitizens who assault law enforcement officers. Deportability would apply when the officer was on duty, attacked for doing their job, or targeted as an officer. The bill would use the local legal meaning of "assault" and define law enforcement to include firefighters and first responders. It would take effect upon enactment and require DHS to publish an annual report of deportations under this ground.
