More in-state VA hospital access
If enacted, the bill would require the VA to have at least one full-service VA hospital inside each of the 48 contiguous states. Veterans eligible for hospital care under 38 U.S.C. 1710 would be able to receive care at that in-state hospital. The VA would still be allowed to provide enhanced care to eligible veterans at VA hospitals in other states. The bill would also change the date wording used to decide who qualifies for VA community care as of the bill's enactment, which could affect eligibility for that program. The VA would have to report to Congress within one year about compliance and effects on care quality.
