Show full summary
- Congress: Gives congressional committees and any Member of Congress access to an annual unclassified report that is due each March 1.
- Department of Defense and planners: Requires the Secretary of Defense, coordinating with other federal agencies, to report each listed country's nominal defense budget and defense spending as a share of GDP, describe their activities supporting U.S. military or stability operations, and explain any limits on those contributions. The report may include a classified annex.
- Allied countries: Covers NATO members, Gulf Cooperation Council states, parties to the Inter American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance, and key Asia Pacific partners including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea, and Thailand. Reports must identify any restrictions those countries place on their forces and any U.S. or partner actions to reduce those restrictions.
