- Defense and military planners would get an assessment of competitor countries, including the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, Iran, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and how those countries could degrade or deny U.S. access to GPS and PNT during a conflict.
- The Department of Defense would be asked to review current efforts to develop redundant GPS and PNT capabilities, including space-based and terrestrial options and quantum sensing technology.
- The Space Force’s Resilient Global Positioning System program would be evaluated for its ability to reach full capacity within 10 years.
- U.S. allies, defined to include NATO members, designated major non-NATO allies, and Taiwan, would have a specific description of risks from disruptions to U.S.-provided GPS and PNT services.
- The report must include a framework for a full-scale terrestrial GPS redundancy system that could be operational within 15 years and may be submitted with a classified annex.
