New VA fraud prevention office
If enacted, the VA would create a Veterans Scam and Fraud Evasion Officer. The officer would be a central contact to help veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors avoid and respond to scams. The officer would promote the VSAFE hotline and VSAFE.gov, issue enterprise-wide guidance, build fraud metrics and analytics, and train VA staff who handle fraud reports. The officer would coordinate with the VA Inspector General and many federal agencies and consult veterans service organizations and local governments. The section would not let VA add new full-time employees and would not limit the Inspector General's authority.
Extend VA pension cutoff date
If enacted, the bill would change the date in 38 U.S.C. 5503(d)(7) from November 30, 2031 to January 30, 2032. This would extend the statutory cutoff date that affects certain VA pension payments. The change would take effect upon enactment. This only changes the date and does not add new funding or change benefit amounts.
