Roadmap for DoD–Industry AI Cyberwork
This bill would require the Commander of U.S. Cyber Command to finish a roadmap for industry collaboration on AI-enabled cyber capabilities by August 1, 2026. The roadmap would be made with DoD AI and research offices, DARPA, the Under Secretaries for Research and Engineering and for Acquisition and Sustainment, and the Defense Innovation Unit. It would set a framework to convene U.S. AI companies, cybersecurity experts, and federal offices and to share information about AI tools for offensive and defensive cyber operations. The plan would cover seven items, including options for collaborative research and development, near-term AI cyber use cases, industry engagement methods (contracts and security-clearance needs), implementation milestones and pilot status, how to move technology into operation, infrastructure needs and costs, and organization options. The Commander would brief congressional defense committees on the roadmap by November 1, 2026, and would give annual status briefings starting with the President’s FY2028 budget submission through December 31, 2030.
