Summary

Requires a 15-year minimum holding period for merchant banking investments. This bill would amend Section 4(k)(7)(A) of the Bank Holding Company Act to set the generally permitted holding period for merchant banking investments at no less than 15 years. It would also require that any merchant banking investment held on the date of enactment meet a 15-year minimum measured from the investment's initial date. The change affects bank holding companies that use merchant banking authority by lengthening investment holding horizons.
