Protect hiring for DEA lab staff

If enacted, this bill would define the "laboratory workforce at the Drug Enforcement Administration." It would cover jobs located in DEA forensic labs, like forensic chemists, fingerprint specialists, and digital forensic examiners. It would also cover DEA jobs being moved into a forensic lab that, as of enactment, is being built or finalized. It would bar hiring freezes and workforce cuts for that defined lab workforce when those actions are tied to spending cuts, reprogramming of funds, or an employee's probationary status. It would not prevent the Attorney General from disciplining employees for misconduct or poor performance under existing procedures.
