Summary
Lets the Puyallup Tribe access its settlement trust under federal trust-management rules. This bill would amend the 1989 Puyallup Tribe of Indians Settlement Act to authorize withdrawals from the Puyallup Tribe Settlement Trust Fund under a management plan approved by the Secretary under the American Indian Trust Fund Management Reform Act of 1994. Puyallup Tribe could access trust funds
If enacted, the bill would allow the Puyallup Tribe to withdraw money from the settlement trust created by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Settlement Act of 1989. Withdrawals would be allowed only under a management plan approved by the Secretary under the American Indian Trust Fund Management Reform Act of 1994. The bill would also make clear that nothing in this Act prevents the United States from engaging with the Tribe, after enactment, under any future federal law on the same basis as other federally recognized tribes. The change would not itself appropriate new funds or change eligibility rules for other federal programs.
