No new ICE housing until audit
If enacted, the bill would require the DHS Office of Detention Oversight to audit any ICE facility that holds noncitizens. The ICE Director would have to send a written report to four congressional committees within 30 days after an audit, showing results and what was done to fix problems. The bill would bar ICE from newly housing noncitizens at a facility until the ODO audit is complete, any deficiencies are remediated, and the Director's report is filed. This rule would apply to facilities that start after enactment and to existing facilities that have been audited.
