Blocks funds for new ICE hires
If enacted, this bill would bar using money made available under Public Law 119-21 to pay salaries for ICE or CBP agents hired on or after the law's enactment. It would also bar using those same funds to recruit, advertise for hiring, or pay retention or sign-on bonuses to those new hires. The restriction is stated "notwithstanding any other provision of law" and would take effect on enactment. It would not stop pay for existing ICE or CBP employees or ban funding for agency activities that do not involve these new hires.
