Anti-boycott expansion for businesses
This bill would expand the U.S. anti-boycott law to cover international governmental organizations (IGOs) as well as foreign countries. It would insert the phrase "or international governmental organization" into 50 U.S.C. 4841 and into 50 U.S.C. 4842(a) and related wording. If enacted, U.S. businesses and people who do international deals would face new compliance duties and possible penalties for following boycotts pushed by those IGOs. The bill would also require the President to publish an annual public report listing countries and IGOs that foster or impose boycotts and describing those boycotts.
