Grants for state gambling addiction help
If enacted, the bill would let HHS award formula grants to States for gambling addiction treatment. It would also let the National Institute on Drug Abuse fund research. Funding would be authorized each year for fiscal 2025–2034 based on a Treasury tax estimate for the prior year. 37.5% of that estimate would be for State grants and 12.5% for NIDA research. State grant shares would use the same ratios as existing substance-abuse block grants. If a State does not apply, its share would be reallocated to States that do apply. HHS must report to Congress on program effectiveness within three years of enactment.
