Intelligence Community Inspector General Parity Act of 2026
Sponsored By: Senator Grassley, Chuck [R-IA]
Introduced
Summary
Extends federal law-enforcement authority to the Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community. This bill would make the Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community subject to the authorities and framework in 5 U.S.C. §406(f). It would also amend 406(f)(3) to add that office into the statute's list of covered entities, placing it before the Tennessee Valley Authority. The change brings the intelligence community inspector general under the same statutory law-enforcement provisions that apply to other listed agencies.

More investigative powers for intelligence inspector general
This bill would let the Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community use the same law-enforcement authorities some other federal inspectors general have. It would add that office to the list of entities covered by 5 U.S.C. 406(f). If enacted, intelligence community staff could face more investigations under that framework. The bill would not provide new funding.
