Temporary protected status for Haiti
This bill would require the Secretary of Homeland Security to designate Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). If enacted, Haitian nationals and other noncitizens from Haiti who meet current TPS rules would be protected from removal and could be eligible for TPS-related benefits. The TPS designation would last until April 20, 2029 (three months after January 20, 2029). Individuals would still need to meet existing TPS eligibility requirements to get protections or benefits.
