American Rescuers of the Holocaust Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2026
Sponsored By: Senator Schiff, Adam B. [D-CA]
Introduced
Summary
Collective Congressional Gold Medal honoring American rescuers of Holocaust victims. This bill would authorize a single Congressional Gold Medal to be awarded collectively to United States individuals who rescued and aided Jews and other refugees during Nazi Germany's genocidal 'Final Solution', recognizing that tens of thousands were spared. It would require the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House to arrange the award and direct the Secretary of the Treasury to design and strike the medal. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum would receive the gold medal for display and research and may make it available elsewhere. The Secretary could strike and sell bronze duplicates to cover costs and use the United States Mint Public Enterprise Fund to pay expenses.
