Repeal of Cold War Middle East Authority
If enacted, this bill would repeal the joint resolution titled "A joint resolution to promote peace and stability in the Middle East" (Public Law 85-7; 22 U.S.C. 1961 et seq.). The repeal would remove that statutory authority from the U.S. Code and would be effective upon enactment. It would end any legal duties, authorities, or policy directions contained in that joint resolution and would not create new funding, programs, or enforcement rules. Households would not see a direct, immediate change to taxes or benefits, but U.S. foreign policy, military posture, or related spending would likely change indirectly over time.
