Coast Guard can make local support deals

This bill would require the department head overseeing the Coast Guard to delegate their authority under 10 U.S.C. 2679 to the Coast Guard Commandant. That would let the Commandant enter intergovernmental support agreements for installation-support services. If the Commandant uses that authority, the bill would require a written notice to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure within 60 days. This provision would not create new funding or change who is eligible for benefits.
