Ensuring Continuity in Veterans Health Act

Sponsored By: Senator Tuberville, Tommy [R-AL]

Introduced

Summary

Continuity of care is added as an explicit factor in deciding whether care through the Veterans Community Care Program is in a veteran's best medical interest. The bill would add a new subparagraph (F) to 38 U.S.C. 1703(d)(2) so continuity of care appears among the statutory factors that guide community care decisions.

More continuity in veterans' community care

If enacted, the bill would require the VA to consider continuity of care in community-care decisions. This could make it more likely you keep your current doctor if you use community care. It would take effect upon enactment and would not provide new money or change who qualifies for care.
