Sponsored By: Senator Merkley, Jeff [D-OR]
Introduced
Summary
Creates a new federal crime for gratuities of $5,000 or more tied to State, local, or Indian tribal public officials and their agents. It would fold that gratuities offense into the same statute that covers theft and bribery in programs receiving Federal funds, clarifying enforcement around federally funded transactions.
