119-s-5690119th Congress

Renewing the Dream Act

Sponsored By: Senator Warnock, Raphael G. [D-GA]

Introduced

Summary

Replace the Lincoln Memorial plaque with one honoring Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. The Renewing the Dream Act would direct the Secretary of the Interior to remove the plaque placed under Public Law 106-365 and install a new plaque commemorating that speech. The plaque's design and placement would follow the Commemorative Works Act. The Secretary could accept private contributions to cover costs. Federal funds could also be used to remove the old plaque and to design, procure, and install the new plaque without requiring an additional appropriation.
