New bans on Hamas-linked immigrants
If enacted, this bill would bar noncitizens tied to the Hamas attacks that began on October 7, 2023 from entering or getting immigration benefits. It would make inadmissible anyone who carried out, participated in, planned, financed, provided material support to, or otherwise facilitated those attacks. Those people would be ineligible for any relief under the immigration laws, including asylum and relief under section 2242. The bill would also expand who counts as a group leader by adding “senior member” and by naming officers, members, official representatives, and spokespeople of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. DHS would have to report to Congress yearly on how many people are found inadmissible or removable under the new rules.
