  • Black women: It cites Census data showing Black women who work full time, year round earn about 65 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men. The resolution also says that, if trends continue, a 40-year career would cost nearly $1.1 million in lost earnings.
  • Families: It notes more than 69 percent of Black mothers are sole or primary breadwinners, a share far above the roughly 33 percent for white, non-Hispanic mothers, and links lost wages to weaker savings and investment for households.
  • Workplaces and policy: It ties the gap to lack of affordable childcare, paid leave, and caregiver supports, and to attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. It also highlights workplace sexual harassment data, including that about 37 percent of women report harassment and targets are 6.5 times more likely to change jobs.
