A joint resolution terminating the emergency determined by the President on August 11, 2025, in the Executive Order titled "Declaring a crime emergency in the District of Columbia".
Sponsored By: Senator Van Hollen, Chris [D-MD]
Introduced
Summary
Ends the presidentially declared crime emergency in the District of Columbia. It would terminate the August 11, 2025 emergency under the District of Columbia Home Rule Act and notes that violent crime fell for two years to a 30-year low while federal action in 2025 prevented the District from spending about $1 billion of locally raised funds for police, fire, emergency response, and schools.
