119-sres-208119th Congress

A resolution supporting the designation of May 10, 2025, as "National Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Mental Health Day".

Sponsored By: Senator Hirono, Mazie K. [D-HI]

Introduced

Summary

AANHPI mental health awareness: This resolution would designate May 10, 2025 as National Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Mental Health Day to spotlight mental health gaps and encourage federal, state, and local action. It cites that about 65.3% of the roughly 2.9 million AANHPI people who meet criteria for a mental health problem go untreated and that suicide was the leading cause of death for AANHPI youth ages 10 to 24 from 2018 to 2023, and it urges better data disaggregation, more culturally and language-capable providers including paraprofessionals, and that health agencies adopt policies to improve help-seeking.
