A resolution designating the week of February 3 through 7, 2025, as "National School Counseling Week".

Sponsored By: Senator Murray, Patty [D-WA]

Passed Senate

Summary

National School Counseling Week designates Feb 3–7, 2025 as a week to spotlight school counselors and the services they provide to students. School counselors guide academic learning, social and emotional development, and career exploration, and they help students find college and financial aid options. The resolution highlights counselors' role in building safer, positive school climates and in supporting students, teachers, and families after trauma. It also notes the national student-to-counselor ratio is about 376 to 1, higher than the 250 to 1 the American School Counselor Association recommends.
