A resolution honoring Wadee Alfayoumi, a 6-year-old Palestinian-American boy, murdered as a victim of a hate crime for his Palestinian-Muslim identity, in the State of Illinois.
Sponsored By: Senator Durbin, Richard J. [D-IL]
Introduced
Summary
Condemning hate-driven violence. This resolution would honor Wadee Alfayoumi, a six-year-old Palestinian-American murdered in a hate crime who was stabbed 26 times, and record that the convicted attacker shouted "All Muslims must die" and received a 53-year sentence. It would call on elected officials and media to avoid dehumanizing rhetoric, assert that free speech and peaceful protest are protected, declare zero tolerance for Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, and anti-Palestinian and anti-Arab discrimination, recognize Palestinian Americans' long contributions to U.S. life, and cite Save the Children's report of more than 20,000 children killed in Gaza over the past 23 months.
