Committee staff hiring and agency pay
This resolution would let the Banking Committee, from Mar 1, 2025 to Feb 28, 2027, spend from the Senate contingent fund and hire personnel. With prior consent of the relevant agency and the Committee on Rules and Administration, the Committee would be able to use agency staff, reimbursable or not. It would also authorize payments from the Senate "Expenses of Inquiries and Investigations" account of such sums as may be necessary for agency contributions to committee employee compensation for three listed periods.
Limits on committee spending and consultants
This resolution would cap the Senate Banking Committee's spending in three periods. From Mar 1, 2025 to Sep 30, 2025 the cap would be $5,141,314. From Oct 1, 2025 to Sep 30, 2026 the cap would be $8,813,681. From Oct 1, 2026 to Feb 28, 2027 the cap would be $3,672,367. It would also limit consultant pay and staff training each period (for example, $11,666 and $875 in the first period).
Simpler payment rules for committee costs
This resolution would require committee expenses to be paid from the Senate contingent fund on vouchers approved by the committee chairman, except for listed items. Vouchers would not be required for annual salary disbursements, telecommunications from the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper, stationery bought through the Keeper of the Stationery, Postmaster payments, metered copying charges, Senate Recording and Photographic Services, and franked and mass mail costs.
