Spending and Staffing for Indian Affairs Committee

This resolution would let the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs spend money and hire staff from March 1, 2025 through February 28, 2027. It would set three spending caps: $1,858,378 for Mar 1–Sep 30, 2025; $3,185,791 for Oct 1, 2025–Sep 30, 2026; and $1,327,413 for Oct 1, 2026–Feb 28, 2027. In each period up to $50,000 could be used for outside consultants and up to $20,000 for professional staff training. The committee would be able to use other agencies' personnel if those agencies and the Committee on Rules and Administration give prior consent. The resolution would authorize agency contributions from the Senate "Expenses of Inquiries and Investigations" account to help pay committee employees during the same three periods. It would also say committee expenses are paid from the Senate contingent fund on vouchers approved by the chairman, but vouchers would not be required for listed items like annual salaries, Senate telecom services, Keeper-of-Stationery purchases, Postmaster payments, metered copying charges, Senate Recording and Photographic Services, and franked or mass mail costs.
