Introduced
Summary
Celebrates Team USA winning both women's and men's Olympic ice hockey gold medals at Milano Cortina 2026. This resolution would applaud the athletes, coaches, and families behind a record U.S. delegation of 232 athletes. It would honor the women's team for defeating Canada on February 19, 2026 to win their third Olympic gold since women began competing in 1998. It notes Megan Keller scored the overtime winner with an assist from Taylor Heise, Caroline Harvey was named tournament MVP, and Laila Edwards became the first Black woman to win Olympic gold with Team USA in women's hockey. It would also honor the men's team for winning their first gold since 1980 on February 22, 2026, with Connor Hellebuyck making 41 saves and Jack Hughes scoring the overtime winner with assists from Zach Werenski and Hellebuyck. The resolution would commemorate these historic moments and their power to inspire the next generation of athletes.
