This resolution would designate April 11 through April 17, 2026 as Black Maternal Health Week to spotlight the maternal and reproductive health crisis and the need for action. It cites that Black women are 2 to 3 times more likely than White women to die from pregnancy-related causes, that Black maternal mortality rose to 50.3 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2023, and that drivers include structural racism, limited access to care, and maternity care deserts.
