Funding and rules for intelligence committee
If adopted, this resolution would let the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence spend from the Senate contingent fund and hire staff from March 1, 2025 through February 28, 2027. It would let the committee use federal agency personnel if the agency and the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration agree. The resolution would allow agency contributions for committee employee pay to be paid from the Senate 'Expenses of Inquiries and Investigations' account for three specified periods. It would set spending caps: up to $5.26 million for Mar 1, 2025–Sep 30, 2025 (up to $10,208 for consultants); $9.02 million for Oct 1, 2025–Sep 30, 2026 (up to $17,500 for consultants); and $3.76 million for Oct 1, 2026–Feb 28, 2027 (up to $7,292 for consultants). Most committee expenses would be paid from the contingent fund on vouchers approved by the committee chair. Some routine payments would not need vouchers, including annual salaries, certain telecom and stationery costs, Postmaster payments, metered copying charges, Senate recording and photographic services, and franked and mass mail handled by the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper.
