Public Treasury report on China finance risks
If enacted, Treasury would study U.S. exposure to Chinas financial system. The Secretary would consult the Federal Reserve, Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and the State Department. Within one year of enactment, Treasury would publish an unclassified report online and send it to the House Financial Services and Foreign Affairs Committees, the Senate Banking and Foreign Relations Committees, and U.S. representatives at international organizations. The report would assess risks, review U.S. policies, rate the quality of Chinese economic data, and recommend further actions. A classified annex could be included.
