Wireless alerts for shark attacks
If enacted, the bill would require the Federal Communications Commission to issue an order within 180 days to allow shark attacks to be an event eligible for Wireless Emergency Alerts. The bill ties the term "Alert Message" to the definition in 47 C.F.R. §10.10(a) or any successor regulation. This would let emergency officials send WEA messages to people near beaches and coastal areas about shark attacks. The bill does not provide funding or create new enforcement rules.
