Funding for Capitol January 6 exhibit
This bill would let the government spend money Congress later approves to build a permanent exhibit at the U.S. Capitol about January 6, 2021. The Architect of the Capitol, with the Joint Committee on the Library, would design and install it. The project would need to finish within two years after enactment. The exhibit would include saved damaged items and photos from the attack, and could include artwork. It would include a plaque honoring law enforcement, Officers Brian Sicknick, Howard Liebengood, Jeffrey Smith, Gunther Hashida, Kyle DeFreytag, injured defenders, and Capitol staff. Money would be authorized as "such sums as are necessary" and would stay available until used. Taxpayers would pay only if Congress later appropriates funds.
