Rehire and add Forest Service staff
If enacted, the Secretary of Agriculture would have 30 days to act. The Secretary would increase Forest Service staffing needed to care for National Forest System lands. The Secretary would also reinstate people involuntarily removed from Forest Service jobs between January 20, 2025 and the enactment date. These steps would use funds the agency already has for this purpose.
Keep Forest Service projects running
If enacted, the Secretary of Agriculture would have to keep carrying out Forest Service projects funded under listed laws. These include the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act, certain Title 54 programs, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. This could help keep contractor work, local projects, and public benefits from those projects moving without interruption.
