Posthumous Gold Medal for Charles Rangel

If enacted, Congress would honor Charles B. Rangel with a gold medal. The Treasury would design and strike the medal with his image and name. The Speaker of the House and the President pro tempore of the Senate would arrange a posthumous presentation. After the ceremony, the medal would go to his children, Steven Rangel and Alicia Rangel.

Mint to make and sell bronze medals

If enacted, the Mint would be allowed to make and sell bronze copies of the Charles B. Rangel gold medal. Prices would need to cover all costs like labor, materials, dies, machinery use, and overhead. Money from sales would go into the Mint’s Public Enterprise Fund, and that fund could be used to pay medal costs. The medals would be treated as national medals and numismatic items under federal law.
