Summary
24-hour family notice for immigration detainee transfers. This bill would require the Secretary of Homeland Security to notify an individual's immediate family within 24 hours after the person is moved to a different facility. The notice must say why the transfer happened and include the new facility's name, physical address, telephone number, and a designated point of contact.

- Families: Immediate family members would get near-immediate contact about transfers, with a clear reason and contact details so they can locate the person. The bill expands who counts as "immediate family" to include step‑parents, step‑children, step‑siblings, foster parents or children, and recognized common‑law or civil union partners.
- People in custody: Any person detained under immigration laws would trigger this notification requirement when moved, including moves to temporary housing on real property.
