Expand access to safe, quality places for children to play. This bill would create an interagency Task Force to coordinate federal support for outdoor play, playgrounds, and nature-based learning to boost youth physical and emotional health and community resilience.

Task Force on Child Play Spaces

If enacted, the bill would require HHS to create an Interagency Task Force on Child Wellness and Physical Activity Infrastructure within 180 days. HHS and the Interior would co-chair and the Task Force would include senior officials from HHS, Interior, EPA, Agriculture, HUD, Transportation, CEQ, Defense, the Army Corps, the Corporation for National and Community Service, and Education. The Task Force would consult with health, wellness, and outdoor recreation groups and study barriers to close-to-home play spaces. A preliminary report would be due 180 days after the Task Force starts, a final report would be due within one year after that, and the Task Force would end one year after the final report.
