Summary

Honoring civil rights leader Clarence Mitchell, Jr. This bill would direct the Joint Committee on the Library to obtain and place a statue of Clarence Mitchell, Jr. in a permanent public location in the United States Capitol. The committee would have up to two years after enactment to enter into an agreement and may authorize the Architect of the Capitol to handle contracts. It authorizes such sums as may be necessary for the statue and allows any appropriated amounts to remain available until expended.

If enacted, the Joint Committee on the Library would be required to obtain a statue of Clarence Mitchell, Jr. within 2 years of enactment. Appropriations would be authorized as "such sums as may be necessary", and any amounts appropriated would remain available until expended.
