Navy may give F-14s to museum

If enacted, the bill would authorize the Secretary of the Navy to convey three specific F-14D Tomcat aircraft (Bureau Numbers 163283, 164602, and 159437) to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center Commission in Huntsville, Alabama by a conditional deed of gift. The Commission would bear all costs to convey, restore, operate, and maintain the aircraft. The Secretary would be able to provide Department of Defense or Navy operations manuals and excess spare parts the Secretary deems necessary, but would not be required to repair or otherwise support the aircraft beyond what is specified. The planes would have to be demilitarized, have no weapons-launch capability, be limited to public static display, airshows, or commemorative events, comply with FAA maintenance and limitations, be subject to U.S. export and security laws, and could revert immediately to the United States for unauthorized transfers or violations; the United States would disclaim liability for injuries or damage from post-conveyance use by others.
